Freres lyons maths exercises<\/li>\n<li>Spelling: review of numbers in French, the sound o, au, eau; use of s or x for plurals<\/li>\n<li>Writing: capital letters, dictation 1 from CP dictation book<\/li>\n<li>Narration: Le Feuilleton d&#8217;Hermes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Unschooled Stuff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lots of independent reading during car trips, evenings at home<\/li>\n<li>Co-read: Le Fromage Magique, various parts of Martine a la Maison, the end of The Magic Treehouse 3, Mummies in the Morning<\/li>\n<li>Read-aloud: Tistou les Pouces Verts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Maths\/Logic<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A little phase of doing mazes several afternoons in a row<\/li>\n<li>Play revision of telling the time, multiplication tables by 1 and 2<\/li>\n<li>Discussion of advantages of weighing chocolate versus counting squares<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Science\/Nature Study<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Examined a dead leaf under the microscope. Learning to use the slide table controls and focusing knob.  Learning about the depth of a small sample under the microscope.<\/li>\n<li>Went out for walk in the rain: catching water in cup, muddy puddles, mud, shiny pebbles and happy mosses and lichens, then home for hot chocolate, &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Inspected our growing sunflowers: measured height, observed second leaves sprouting, identified possible young apple tree among the weeds (from the seed case), removed others.<\/li>\n<li>Watched 2 episodes of David Attenborough on Life in the Undergrowth<\/li>\n<li>Lots of discussion of bees and their ways<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Arts and Craft<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lots of free drawing<\/li>\n<li>Looked at pictures of various greek gods we&#8217;ve been reading about, etc<\/li>\n<li>Four seasons watercolour series<\/li>\n<li>Snowflakes and other origami and paper cutouts, masks<\/li>\n<li>Playdough and other modelling things<\/li>\n<li>Made a Kolam design for the terrace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practical Life<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Finished making chocolate truffles<\/li>\n<li>Made chocolate mousse<\/li>\n<li>Picked and made crystallised violets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Music<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Piano practice<\/li>\n<li>Went to a harp concert<\/li>\n<li>Cuddled up to watch Swan Lake on DVD, while I read le Peuple des Abeilles<\/li>\n<li>Listened to bagpipes and looked at traditional Scottish costume with kilts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sports\/Games<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Played Blind Man&#8217;s Buff, then turned it into a sensorial alphabet puzzle game<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Out and about<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dance class<\/li>\n<li>Swimming lesson<\/li>\n<li>Day of downhill skiing<\/li>\n<li>Day of play with friends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lessons Maths book: subtractions, plans, calculator, solids.
